Founded in 2016, @womeninstreet is a social media project on several platforms. Showcase, promotion, community, network, and resources for emerging and established street photographers.
We are on Instagram, Facebook, Tumblr, and publish the blogzine Her Side of the Street. The publication provides a showcase platform for contemporary artists, featuring interviews and views from established artists, and exposure opportunities for emerging photographers. The publication’s monthly galleries also celebrate women curators, photo editors, and photographers who regularly guest curate exhibitions published on the blog.
Ongoing submission opportunities are available through our Facebook and Instagram. As one entity existing on several platforms, photos submitted through one @womeninstreet platform may be featured on another.
To provide networking opportunities and promote visibility, we maintain a directory in the form of a world map. We keep an updated guide to resources for women photographers.
Rebecca picked up a camera 4 years ago to explore a creative curiosity, never expecting to have found herself so quickly addicted to street photography. She lives in Australia, and loves to capture color and light and moments at the beaches and coastal communities near where she lives. She also enjoys travel and escapes to new places with her camera as often as possible.
Rebecca has had success with her images in Australia and international photography festivals and has recently been exhibited in Paris at Street Sans Frontières 2018 and in Italy at Trieste Photo Days 2018. She is a cofounder of Unexposed Collective, an initiative that connects and builds the community of Australian women and NB street photographers. Email | Website | Instagram
